97 Things Every UX Practitioner Should Know

I’ve written a chapter for the book 97 Things Every UX Practitioner Should Know. Published by O’Reilly in June 2021, the book contains ‘collective wisdom from the experts’ on all aspects of UX practice – from design to research, from career to strategy. My chapter is about the importance of being your own project manager, rather than leaving it to anyone else to do for you. By using a project planning template like the one I suggest, you can hit the ground running on new projects, and protect the space you need to be creative.

You can download a free project planning template in PowerPoint or Keynote to get started. Feel free to customise it for your process  and let me know if you’ve found it helpful!

Being involved with the book’s production has been a fascinating process – from pitching initial ideas, to critiquing each other’s work; through to copy-editing, proofing and indexing with the publishers.

It’s now available to order from Waterstones, Amazon, and all good book stores.

By the way, that’s me on the cover – on the bottom line, just to the left of editor Dan Berlin!
